Hello, I'm writing as a complete newbie to cars. I have a 95' Cherokee XJ.
While trying to install a new car stereo, I accidentally touched two wires and now the following do not work: any interior light, key switch light, cigarette lighter. Everything else works fine. I found a diagram of the fuse box, but it doesn't seem to be correct. I just tried to take an existing fuse and change the one I thought was the interior lights fuse, but to no avail.
My questions are the following:
1. Can you tell if a fuse is blown by looking at it? (the internet seems to be split in the middle)
2. Where can I find a correct diagram of my fuse box?
3. Is a blown fuse most likely my problem?
4. When replacing a fuse for the interior lights I do not need to turn the car on in order for the lights to work right? They should just turn on.
Any other tips relevant to my situation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
And I apologize for the beginner questions.
