Soon purchasing an XJ questions I want to ask.

Hi there JeepForum Members,



I am an Australian wanting to buy an XJ Cherokee somewhere in the 96-99 year models and like any car I am sure they have there problems.



We have a localised forum but I would prefer to ask people from the Jeep country of origin, also I hope that this is the right section to ask a few of these questions to.



The questions I would like to ask:



1. When inspecting a Cherokee to potentially purchase what should I be looking out for?



2. Are there any problems that maybe be pre-emptively repaired?



3. What is the fuel economy like in an XJ?



4. Are there many performance mods to increase things like fuel economy?



5. What is the A/C like in them?



I am aware that a few of these questions may seem stupid and rather irritating to ask but it's been a life long dream to own a Cherokee and I thought I'd ask the experts.



I know I could have probably used the search function but this seemed like the more direct way.
