Morning All,
I've done a bit of research on this particular problem I am having, but was wondering if someone could give some direct advice.
I've seen that people have had a similar problem as to what I am having; long cranking and when it finally does start, it runs awful for a couple of seconds, then fine for the rest of the trip. Sometimes when it "catches", it struggles to start but will eventually. Sometimes I will have to crank it twice before it starts...other times it will start right up.
I've heard that it could be either A: My Crank sensor, or B. My fuel pump. I got a fuel pressure gauge and tried to test it via the schrader valve on the rail. However I got no reading whatsoever. I primed it, turn it on, even let it run, but the needle didn't even jump. When it was running, it ran fine but displayed nothing. When you turn the key, you can hear the pump kick on.
Even if I had a fuel pressure problem but the Jeep actually runs fine, wouldn't I show some kind of reading? This leads me to believe I could have a busted schrader valve. If that's the case, how do I check pressure?
The other problem I thought could have been the crank sensor. I did some searching on these forums about a month ago because I went to get my car inspected and the state OBD meter wouldn't read my vehicle. The inspector had just done a few cars ahead of me, so it wasn't his cable. I read on the threads somewhere that it could be my crank sensor throwing a problem.
I'm at a loss here..... the only code that I am reading is an EVAP code, minor leak.
Any help would be great!
