Ok guys got to ask so I don't screw up, rebuilding 1969 GM V-6 3.7L/225 engine. Now I built a few motors mostly Ford but I never seen a front crankshaft seal packing like used in the crankshaft Rearmain oil seal. using Felpro full engine gasket set gives instruction for rearmain but no word on front seal that looks to be made of same material but one piece wrap around not two halfs like used in the rear seal. Join with this packing seal is a part call Crankshaft oil shedder. The old packing with oil shedder still is press into timing chain cover I have not remove it yet not knowing if oil shedder need to be remove to replace new oil seal packing. Hoping someone on this forum has rebuild this old motor or replaced this old style of packing before. The first think that came to mind is can I replace this old style packing with a modern rubber oil seal. :confused:
