Lifetime Powertrain Warranty Voided

mercredi 9 avril 2014

So I just got this wonderful piece of news today. My Jeep was in the shop for a broken clockspring and I was getting into it with the dealer and was forced to call Jeep Corp for further explanation.

In the process they told me I missed my 5 year inspection due May 2013. I asked what inspection? They told me the Powertrain warranty 5 year inspection. Because I missed it my warranty was voided at the end of my 3 year 35,000 mark or, you know, 2010.

Now I understand you are reading this saying whelp yea it is in the warranty info you signed. OK IN 2008! I did not receive one ounce of a notification regarding this. In our family there are 3 other Jeeps, the oldest being 2005 and no one in my family has heard of this.

The kicker my Jeep was brought in for warranty work in May of 2013, literally the month the inspection work was due. I had an EGR valve replaced, 23 point inspection, oil change and other misc. things done. Why wasn't it done then? I purposely told the man at the counter to go over the entire Jeep to make sure it was ready for summer. I have the service records for this. So I told the rep that and she said OH! Great send me the service paperwork and we will see if we can get your inspection date extended due to the fact that your Jeep was in for service.

I get a call today. Nope, warranty voided. Why? Because the Jeep dealership did not submit my VIN to replace the EGR valve. I quote " they did not have to submit the VIN to replace EGR valve under warranty" ?!?!? REALLY?!?! What if my VIN was flagged? What if I had a salvage title?? How would they know ANY of this without submitting the VIN??? If they didn't submit the VIN they would not have seen I was due for the inspection. So therefore, since I did not specifically ask for the Powertrain Inspection, only the 23 point inspection, I am out of my warranty.

I am beyond pissed. This makes sense?! Chrysler thinks they are smooth criminals, but I will get the last laugh. I will no longer bring my Jeep to any dealership for work. Why? Makes no sense? I have no warranty?? Jeep is purposely forcing customers out their door for petty bull****. I escalated this and am getting a call back from the supervisor, but it is all for naught. I understand that. I guess this is just a warning for all to keep the 5 year date in mind at all times. Don't get screwed like me.
