Have 131,000 miles on my liberty and have been loving it. Recently engine light came on. Local parts store read the code for me and it was a misfire on cylinder #4. Changed the 6 plugs w/ new stock plugs. Then replaced the coil on #4. Then replaced all 6 injectors. Still had engine light on. Off to jeep dealer. They checked all my work and all good. Then they did a compression check on all cylinders. All good except for #4 which is leaking 20%. Recommended a new cylinder head on right side. Cost of $3,000. This is $2600 for the new cylinder head installed plus $400 for the two test they ran to diagnose the problem. I'm paying the $400 and taking her home to shop these costs. Seems high to me and if the other head needed replaced anytime soon I'd be upset. A real possibility. So I'm going to see if I can get a reasonable price on two new heads instead and I' ll do both sides. Otherwise a new ( rebuilt) engine might be on my horizon. Have really taken care of the engine (Mobil 1), regular service. This head job really blows my mind..... Three weeks before Christmas.
