weird noise

I have a weird noise coming from my transmission or transfer case. I think it the transmission because I have had some synchro issues from having a transfer case drop case drop before. I have an nv3550 transmission and an np231 transfer case with an advance adapters sye kit. I haven't replaced the fluid in the transmission yet but the transfer case fluid is fresh from installing the sye recently. Any ideas?
