Quick Gear Ratio ID

dimanche 23 mars 2014

Hi folks. My girlfriend is looking to get a Wrangler, most likely a JK. My very limited knowledge of the JKs tells me to look for the 3.71 gearing, if not 4.10.

Now I know that it *should* be tagged on the rear diff cover, but sometimes the tag is missing. And I know the 'spin the tire' trick. But I need something that I can do to Jeeps I see on a lot, maybe a few at a time if they have more than one worth checking out. Would there be a better way to figure out the gear ratio on the spot? Maybe something to look for in the VIN?

I will also post this in the JK forum. Thanks everybody.
