I have a leaking rear pinion seal on my 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7l.....wondering how much a dealership would charge to do this??? Also, is it a good idea to replace both the pinion nut and crush sleeve (not sure if my dana 44a has a crush sleeve or not??) ??
Anyways, I'm also contemplating on doing this job myself...I have an inch pound torque wrench but unsure of what the proper procedure would be to replace it...
I know you have to record the amount of rotation inch pound torque BEFORE removing the pinion nut but how exactly is this done? Do you keep the tires on? etc??
Thanks to all!
