Hello everyone,
I always wanted a build thread, mostly for the purpose of documentation, but also for some assistance and guidance along the way. Well, I guess now's my chance, because my last Jeep was totaled. While I loved the Jeep, and it really had sentimental value (first vehicle, lots of projects with dad, etc), I was incredibly lucky both financially and physically.
The picture really doesn't do the damage justice, the estimate was totaled at $10,700 with more damage unchecked. To give perspective, I was going 10-15mph coming to a red light when a 1-ton E-350 knocked me in the rear. He was cited for speeding (45mph zone). I paid $7,800 for it last year on Halloween, and put a little over 2k in upgrades (which Geico gave me just under $300 for). However, they valued my vehicle at $12,130 :2thumbsup:
Onto the new stuff, I found a 2000 Wrangler Sahara 3-Speed Auto in immaculate condition for $10,500. Incredibly nice guy as well, he offered to drive the Jeep to my place, because I can't (injuries have me uncleared for driving). The Jeep will be in the driveway tomorrow, and I'll have pictures up asap!
The purpose of my build is to have a daily driver on 36/37" tires with the ability to handle speed in the desert, and decent crawling in the rocks. I want it to be moderate, simple, lightweight, comfortable, and capable of holding three passengers (back seat is a must). It will be a slow build as I'm currently in my first year of college at ASU, but that just means it will be a smart, and fiscal build. Oh, and it needs a name...
To both my knowledge, and the previous owner's knowledge, the Jeep has an inventory consisting of:
All new RS 9000 adjustable shocks
Rancho Steering Stabilizer
Pro Comp 3.5 in. lift (coincidentally, the same lift of my last Jeep)
Swaybar disconnects
Custom front bumper
Custom rear tire carrier w/ Hi-Lift
Rock Sliders
Stereo with Sub woofer
Goodyear DuraTrax 33s
Two tops, Tan with no windows, black with windows
CB radio ready
