So I've had my heep since last July, And its still not done... working on a McDonald budget, while paying for insurance and gas on other vehicles isn't really easy.
BACKSTORY:
Like i said i've has my Yj since July 2013 when i got it, it was a total rust bucket, it had sat a few streets over from my house at its old home, It had been there since before i was a teenager. It had a rejection sticker on the windshield from 2006, I left with it the day after i talked to the owner for 400 bucks.
My plan for this was to fix it up by the time i got my licence in the winter. That never happened. I thought it would be easy, and as you guys know jeep and easy don't normally mix. Over the summer i fixed a lot, Brakes, and brake lines, radiator and hoses, battery, radiator over flow, carpet got ripped out, fixed an exhaust leak, and other little things i am forgetting.
I picked up a hard top without a back window for 80 bucks, and then traded my half doors for full doors. (Old soft top had two HUGE tares)
Since school started i've started taking car of the rust, the frame is mostly solid but the body and floors were bad, i cut all the floors out and patched up the passenger side. Here's where it gets tricky, The drivers side has two body mounts on the tub rotted out, the one under the front of the drivers seat, and the rear corner. I haven't been able to fix them myself, i eventually found the one under the driver seat online and it has been ordered and it should be getting here any day. The rear corner i think i can just use some plate.
I had a thread in the YJ section but it wasn't a "Build" thread, so i thought i'd get this new thread going. I've recently weaseled my way into a jeep club, i"m only 16 so with there rules i can't be a real member till i am 18 but they are helping me out with the welding when i get that body mount replacement. I've recently Found a better paying and better overall job, so this thing should be getting some money dumped into, i am getting a 4 inch lift soon for a steal, i just need to source some wheels and 33s.
This is a budget build so hopefully i get enough done to update this regularly. I know this was probably a ton of reading so i am done for now! Thanks for checking my yj out
