Hi,
Removed the fuel tank last night to do some frame repair. Found that the PO had completely disconnected all the Fuel system stuff that sits in the drivers side rear wheel well such as the Rollover Valve and the Liquid Check Valve coming from the tank vents. So, I'll be fixing that....
However, the PO also did the Chevy 350 Swap, and in this configuration uses the mechancial fuel pump, and no fuel return line. No issues with this.
So my question is that I'd like to be able to attach a charcoal canister to the tank vent line at the rear of the vehicle to reduce the fuel fumes from the vent line, but do not plan to connect the Canister to the carb. Meaning, I'd like to put the canister at the rear of the jeep, probably in the same compartment behind the wheel well with the LCV and Rollover valve.
two questions:
1. Is this spot acceptable? Any reason that wouldn't be good? I was a little concerned that fumes may gather in there, but the canister should take care of most of that, and if any do escape, its all open at the bottom and regular driving should remove the gas. Also, I'm running side pipes that dump just behind the doors, so no worries about a tailpipe igniting fuel fumes.
2. Can anyone recommend a relatively inexpensive, yet quality, charcoal canister that would fit this need? I'd essentially plug all ports on the canister beside the vent line coming directly from the tank (through the check valves) and the output line on the canister.
Looking forward to feedback!
