Hello! I'm looking for some advice on overhauling an old CJ7 that has been collecting dust for some time. I grew up around this car and it holds immense sentimental value, so I thought that turning it into a fix-up project might be worthwhile.
Here's the shape it's in currently. Unfortunately I can't download images from where I am or embed from the website it's on, so here's the link:

Before I proceed, I should admit right away that I know almost nothing about cars, so simplified answers are encouraged.
As far as I know, it has been kept completely stock. It needs a new windshield and it seems to top out at 30 mph. The brakes are deplorable. Last time I checked, it had about 80,000 miles on it. I'm pretty sure we have the top and doors sitting around. I'd like to keep it as stock and simple as possible, but it needs to be reliable, safe, and have decent handling.
Here are the questions I'd like to raise:
1) Which parts will I need?
2) How much should I expect to spend?
3) Does the original vehicle hold enough value as a collectors item that a more prudent decision might be to sell it and purchase a cj7 that has already been overhauled?
4) Judging by the photo, which year/model # does this one look like?
