XJ automatic with restart problems after a mile

Hi I have an odd problem with my XJ that is getting worse. If I start it from cold there is no issue but if I move it a short distance, turn it off and try to restart. It won't fire. I have found that if a press the thumb button on the automatic gear selector and nudge the selector back slightly in a slow rocking fashion from the Park mode it will fire up. However this method failed to work yesterday. So I had no chose but to wait half an hour, after that it started without any incouragment at all.



Any advice would be welcome.
