I swapped in a front and rear Dana 44 with a NV241 (from a manual 04 Rubicon) to my 99 TJ Sport. The rear drive shaft is a Tom Woods and the front is a stock drive shaft from the 04 Rubi.
I was messing with my front Currie control arms this weekend and couldn't get them to collapse much further than 16 1/2 - 17" eye-to-eye. When I checked on the front drive shaft (from the 04 Rubi), it was completely collapsed.
When I initially set the lower control arm lengths (by removing the springs and compressing the axle into the wheel well), the drive shaft extended over the Dana 44's yoke. I had to extended out the lower arms quite a bit to get the front drive shaft to mate to the yoke.
If anyone has done this swap, did you need to replace the front drive shaft with something shorter?
Thanks for all the help. I've been full of questions on this swap.
