Alright, here is what is going on. I have a friend with an 88 Cherokee 4.0 I6. After letting it sit for a couple months, she started to do a tuneup. Prior to sitting, it ran, but lacking in power, and with bad milage. Now, it cranks but it won't start for anything. Research online led us to several prospective problems that were common. I am just going to list what we have done, after all the things on this list, the sound and function remain unchanged.
Replaced:
Crank position sensor
rotor cap
distributor cap
ignition coil
ignition control module
spark plug wires
spark plugs (replaced and gapped according to repair manuel)
fuel filter
Checks:
Starter fluid sprayed into throttle body - no change
spark plug held near valve cover- strong spark, white lining with a yellowish core
fuel to fuel rail- confirmed fuel is being delivered
We have checked everything we can think of, and replaced mot of it just to ensure it was not faulty. We could really use some help from someone more experienced. Thank you all in advance for the assistance.
