Found some great write ups here on replacing rotten rockers with box tubing. Here is the question
After I bought the metal in 3/16 and relized how heavy it is I looked it up and relized that
2X6X3/16 at 62"x two pieces = 97.5 lbs
2X6X1/8 at 62" X two pieces = 66.5 lbs
30lbs difference
So I guess the question is how much will 97 lbs have of an effect then 66 lbs on MPG.
This is my DD with occasional trips from Mass to NYC and light to moderate wheeling when able. If the difference is minimal then I'll stay with the 3/16. If it will be a noticeable difference then maybe I should get the 1/8".
