I've spent the past two hours rounding up threads on the internet viewing different opinions on this topic, but none of them really give me the opinions I need as the design of my '77 front hub/rotor is a bit different.
Somehow while driving all my Wheel studs came loose and it caused damage in one of the hub's splines stud holes. I wouldn't say they are completely sheared off, but I can insert a stud in it by hand.
I am trying to source some studs (the omix ada ones were the ones I have and I don't trust them now), but my real question is how to deal with the hub?
Can I tack weld the back of one of the studs to the rotor? How about JB weld it up? Am I correct in thinking that the tack and weld only need to stop the stud from spinning so the lug nuts can be torqued?
Will tack welding it to the back of the rotor really cause warpage?
If you were in my position and your CJ already had a boat's worth of money in it and still required another boatload, would you try to repair one stud like this or would you go through the effort and cost to replace the whole hub? It is easy enough to say "buy another." but that is what you guys have said for the last 100 things on the Jeep
