Replaced a bunch of crap and make it worse!

vendredi 20 mars 2015

In the search to smooth out the shakes and vibrations I noticed a bunch of play in my tie rods and drag link ends. Also found that the previous owner had the front sway bar links mounted backwards or atleast it looks backwards to me.

I also found the stabilizer /dampener was missing a nut on the draglink side and was leaking so I replaced it too

So when it was all said and I replaced all 3 tie rod ends, the drag link bar with the tie rod end attached, flipped the sway bar links 180 degrees, checked the torque on track bar, and the rest of the stuff I replaced, did a rough allignment using some angle iron against the outside of the tires and a tape measure, greased all the joints, and centered the steering wheel.

I took it for a test drive expecting it be still vibrating as I suspect that is driveline related but hoping for an improvement in the steering vibrations and slop as well as fixing my occasional DW. Turns out now it sounds like my front right side is going to rattle apart when I go over 40mph. Sounds like my tire is loose or something but I never touched the lug nuts. I jacked it up and checked for play and couldn't find any. I noticed about 1/32 of light coming through the upper ball joint. When I pry up on the tire the gap closes. Do I need to replace the ball joint or is there an acceptable amount of play in them. It's weird that changing the parts I did would create this new symptom. Is there anything else I should check?

Thanks!!!
