My wife is at the wheel doing about 50 mph and I'm shotgun. There is a loud "clunk" and the battery light comes on. The noise seemed to come from under the car, but it was not a sensation like she ran over anything. Pulled over, nothing visible under the car and the battery light went out after restarting the car. Its only happened once in 20,000 miles but, I wonder what glitches lurk with all the electronic control. Has anyone else experienced this?
