How To Brighten Dash Lights In Daytime?

I know this is a dumb question...not my first, I assure you. Anyway, I don't know how to brighten or even turn on my dash lights during daytime driving conditions. They do illuminate when it's dark enough for the headlights to come on automatically. However, when it's bright outside, I can barely see the speedometer/tach. The only way I can tell how fast I'm going is to set the info center to show vehicle speed and even that is pretty dim. Thanks for the help...I love this forum!
