Sudden idle problems now that it has gotten cold out

dimanche 16 novembre 2014

03 WJ, 4.0 Selec-Trac 111,000 miles. Bought the Jeep back in July, had a few emissions problems with the EVAP system (the typical rotted hoses), I replaced them and Jeep has been great since. About a week and a half ago it suddenly went from 60+ degrees here to 25-30 and has been that cold since. Ever since then my Jeep idles horrible when it is first started after sitting. For the first 10-15 seconds after starting it when the engine is cold the RPM's go all over the place, randomly surging anywhere between 1000-3000 and then settle down to normal after 10-15 seconds. Jeep drives fine when not on the freeway, but once I go over about 60 MPH the RPM's surge randomly between a few hundred RPM's but sometimes the Jeep will suddenly downshift and then up shift then back then again, etc etc. I am assuming this is my TPS, however yesterday my CEL came on P0601. Should I start with the TPS or would the PCM cause these problems on its own? I went to the store earlier today to pick up a pack of smokes (yeah yeah, I know, lol) and the check engine light was off and it drove fine but still acted badly when I started it. Sorry for the extra long post, I just like to try to give as much info as I can so you guys know what to diagnose. Any other things I should check first?
