Getting ready to press bearing onto AMC 20 axles. Quick questions??

Do you guys pack the bearing with grease before you press? Seems a little easier to do it that way. Also, do you guys put any lubrication on the axle shaft to ease the pressing of the bearing along the shaft? And, how do you know when it's pressed on enough? I know it eases up against the that shoulder, but I don't believe it goes up onto it, correct?
