Would you replace these wheel studs? I've got wheel spacers to help with LCA rub on my brand new tires. While working on brakes i didn't like the look of the nuts connecting the spacers to the Rotor
It turns out my pictures are enormous in size so for reference: The short ones are on the drivers' side, the long studs are passenger
So i'm the lucky owner of a 99 xj with different front wheel hubs. 99 transitioned from one size to another - each size has different rotors and wheel studs.
Unfortunately, this has turned an afternoon brake job into 8 days on jack stands. It took a day for me to realize the PO put the wrong rotor on, but luckily the other one fit when i got the new ones in :cheers2:
What would you do? I'm thinking of knocking out all of the wheel studs and putting in longer ones. Hub assemblies are like $75 on rock auto. I would do this in a heartbeat IF i had a torque wrench (for hub bolts) AND i haven't been out of a ride for over a week already. I need this functional to get to work :/
Can i get the wheel studs out without removing the hub assembly?
P.S. i know spacers are a touchy subject - i plan on using red loctite and checking 2 or 3 times/month
P.S.S. To top it all off - i turned the wheel while lifted up and *POP* power steering fluid flowing out the top of the reservoir all over my gloves and a few wrenches. Awesome. Not sure if i broke something or not
