Hey folks!
We've been a vendor here on JeepForum for a few years now, sponsor one of the Gland Slam events, and are active selling recovery products on the WJ side of things. Ive gotten Omelets approval to start a thread to gauge interest in us bringing the same products that we make for the WJ over to fit your Grand Cherokees here in the WK tech forums.
Adding WKs to what we do has been something weve gotten some requests for and planned on doing for a while, but held off on as Saguaro/Aspen Creek seemed to make a great product, and serve the WK market well. With their calling it quits last October, it might be time for us to step up like we did last year with our WJ stand-alone shackle tabs.
What we do currently:
WJ Stand Alone Shackle Tabs (for ¾ shackles).
Similar in look to what Saguaro was originally doing, but with a completely different design as far as mounting. Its a product that doesnt work with the modular recovery items we make, but is absolutely bulletproof.
WJ Modular Mounts.
The product is ALL about maximum strength with a minimum footprint. In fact, our top-of-the-line product is called the MiniMax for just that reason. Its a 3 x1/4 tube, with two ¾ shackle tabs and a 2 receiver through welded into the tube. It fits in the lower airdam area to minimize a loss of approach angle and ground clearance. The customer has the option of adding a set of bull bar brackets that fit the Westin bull bars, or the cheaper TruckGearDirect brand.
Because the base product is modular, you can start with just the mounts, add brackets that relocate and strengthen a bull bar, add shackle tabs for recovery, or go with the full MiniMax recovery mount. In other words, its a system that allows the customer to have an upgrade path so they can spread their purchase out over time.
All of our products are designed in-house (no knockoffs of other peoples stuff). The designs are certified by an ME for strength and WLL, and typically carry a safety ratio of 4:1 or 5:1. Each product is 100% made in the USA, with steel from US mills, and attaches with US made Grade 8 hardware (Unfortunately we do have to supply Chinese made push-pin fasteners in the installation kit for reattaching the inner fender skirt to the bumper fascia, but thats only because US made alternatives dont seem to exist). With a few exceptions, our products come with a no-BS, UNlimited lifetime warranty; If you can break it, well replace it.
So what would YOU, the WK driver, like to see FawkesFab bring to market?
Ive got no issue with doing other items (tire carriers, rock rails, etc.) as well, but bombproof recovery products is our niche. Im open to suggestions but Im not 100% as to whats out there, and just exactly what the WK community needs. Theres likely a little crossover between our receiver system and 4xGuards, but to be honest, what we do is quite a bit different. I can say that we will *not* be doing a hidden winch mount. The Steel Armadillo seems to have that covered, and it also seems as if Rocky Road might be working on it. We designed one for the WJ, but our insurance underwriter put the kibosh on that. :(
So thanks for taking the time to read all that, and thanks in advance for your input! Please hit the poll, and respond here. If youve got any questions or suggestions, post up, and Ill do my best to answer.
