Hey guys, question for you. I spent $1700 on a samsung side by side fridge about 9 years ago. Its stainless steel front, has a control panel in the front for temps, turbo cool for fridge and freezer, ice machine and water ect.. It was a great fridge..
But for the last like 7 months the fridge side has been causing problems.. Which i later learned is a massive defect with many samsung fridges newer and older (There is even a class action lawsuit going on).. Something in the fridge side is causing the coils to freeze over, no one has figured out the problem from what ive dug up online, people say its the heating element or whatever its called, to the little switch that turns it on, or it could be the mainboard.. I have spent $300 so far in repairs myself and techs to find the issue and they cant find the problem..
I replaced the mainboard in the back myself, and that didnt fix it. I also replaced the thermester.. I havent replaced the actual heating thing though.. but im getting tired of spending money on it. The other day i heard a loud pop and when i looked ice built up so much over the coils it actually bursted the cover holding it screws are in the back still lol.. So i have to use larger screws now...
Besides the coil freezing over, the fridge still cools to 34-36f fan still works and the freezer has never had issues, ice maker still works fine and the water comes out fine.. So besides the coils freezing the fridge is working..
I already purchased a new $1500 fridge not samsung... And Best buy said they would take my old one.. But honestly im thinking of leaving it unplugged for a couple days to melt the ice, put the cover back on.. Clean it up and plug it back in... Then putting it on craigslist for like $300 or something.
I think i could make something off the fridge, despite the coil freezing everything works and it still cools the fridge... What would you guys do ?
If i cant sell it ill just bring to the landfill.. I hope itll fit in my Jeep lol.. Its 36 inches wide i forgot how wide the jeep is because of those wheel wells in the back
