Steering wheel is 90 degrees off!

lundi 3 août 2015

Am I correct in thinking 90 degrees is too much to overcome with turnbuckle on drag link?

This is my fault:

When trying to fix my airbag light, I removed the steering wheel, put in the replacement clock spring, then realized my wheels weren't straight (stupid mistake) but because the clock spring seemed centered vs the one I took off, I installed the wheel centered to the clockspring figuring I could recenter it with the turnbuckle.

It was off maybe 35 degrees, and I didn't get to correcting it...

Then I installed an adj. track bar which pushed the steering wheel even further out of wack... Literally it is sideways now when the Jeep is pointed straight. And my turn signals don't disengage properly.

If I need to take the wheel again off to recenter it... Do I park with the steering wheel upright, or the wheels pointing straight ahead? Or can the turnbuckle overcome a 90 degree adjustment?
