Okay, I recently purchased a 2005 TJ Rubicon with 70k miles. While the Jeep runs fantastic, I've been reading a ton of stuff about this whole OPDA situation with these TJs and I figured I would rather be safe than sorry.
So, there's TONS of threads about this and I've read a good portion of them. The issue is that a lot of the threads are several years old and countless numbers of pages long. It's pain staking to sift through page after page of content when only some of the posts are worth reading.
From what I have gathered here the fix for this seems to be ordering an updated Crown OPDA and then swapping the Crown sensor for my OEM Mopar sensor. Am I on the right track?
Also it seems that I should be able to mark the old unit / block with a Sharpie marker, remove it, and install the new unit in its place. As long as I don't crank the engine or mess with anything else I shouldn't have to worry about things being mistimed, correct?
So, any of the experts who have done this before care to chime in and let me know if I've got it all covered?
Just want to tackle this issue before anything happens and not have to worry about it again hopefully =]
