Clackity sounds

mercredi 22 juillet 2015

Yes, clackity sounds. I don't know how to describe them another way. My 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo has always had a clackity noise when I drive (for the past four years). It's like the sound a train makes on the tracks. There were no performance issues, and when I got it checked out, the mechanic couldn't find anything.

Fast forward four years, and quite abruptly the noise became much louder. Also, there is a strange grinding sensation beneath my feet. Needless to say, I'm not driving it until the problem is fixed.

Does anyone know what this could be? It doesn't worsen when I turn, brake, or accelerate. It sounds like something is loose, but my fiance can't find anything obvious. He's pretty handy and has repaired my Jeep before, so he might be able to fix the problem if we can determine what it is. Thanks in advance!

Best Shcoks for High Speed Off Roading

I know there are plenty of "best shocks" threads and I have read a bunch of them. But many don't really get specific as to what the Jeep will be used for.

The Jeep is driven on the road so I don't want it to ride like a lumber wagon. But, it is also used off road often and run on trails and two tracks with some decent sized bumps, ruts, etc and speed. No rock crawling, etc.

It is a stock 1997 Wrangler Sport with the 4.0 and a 5-speed. Looking to put a 2-3" suspension lift and I want to upgrade the shocks at the same time.

2015 Trailhawk fuel economy and transmission issues

My Mang Tango has the 3.2, trailer tow, leather interor, prem sound. Fuel mileage disappointing 20.5, mostly rural 2 lane highway driving moderate elevation changes.
Attempted a pass on a moderate uphill grade at 45 mph transmission did not down shift with accelerator to the floor almost did not make it.
Is this normal or should I use other transmission options in this circumstance
Sport or manuel mode?

JK 2dr Teraflex Lift Kit rear vibration issue

Hey all,

I recently installed a 2.5" Teraflex Lift kit on my 2014 JK however, the problem I face is a wobble in the rear side and ONLY when I hit a speed breaker at a straight angle.

I was told by the specialists that the bracket installed with the lift is a 4dr bracket instead of a 2dr one. This lift kit was purchased from Quadratec and they have told me that all brackets are the same size, whereas the local specialists have told me there are two separate sizes for the brackets. I am still not 100% sure for the cause of this weird heavy vibration only for that period of time when I approach a speed bump.

If anyone faced the same issues please let me know the solution and remedy for this problem.

Thank you
Much Appreciated

Aamir

experiences with shackle lifts vs stock setup? planning lift

First and foremost, any experience is welcome here, even if it comes from your cousins husbands best friends babysitter.

I've asked this before but my money keeps going elsewhere (hello school)... anyways I just moved home and got a job with a 2x pay raise so I thought I'd start truly making a shopping list.

alright the meat... :

standard leafs in the back

OR

leafs with shackle relocation and longer shackle...

both adding to the same lift height

MAXMAXMAX lift I ever want to go to is 5" preferably settling to 4.5" after a year. Im trying to build an expedition rig, as in, streets well, handles terrain, tolerates unpaved roads at speed, and most importantly is canadian winter safe and ready. The very end goal is running 35's reliably.

I've read that shackle relocation and a longer shackle will (along with the obvious more droop) improve comfort, I've also read that your leafs WILL wear out sooner, really not concerned with that since I plan to move into an economy car for DD after I get a big boy job in a year.

A few questions:

1. Will the shackle relocation and longer shackle improve comfort over the normal setup?

2. Will a shackle lift make the ride quality worse as opposed to just running a relocation bracket?

2. if you're running a shackle lift do you want a stiffer or softer leaf?

3. How significantly does a shackle lift wear out your leafs?

Also I have a few brands in mind, OME with their ~3 inch leaf, rusty's or claytons (being 4.5"). I love the prices on rusty's, all the negative reviews ive read were around 10 years old by now as well. OME I've only heard amazing stuff.

feel free to piggy back my thread as well.

Jeep hire Rubicon trail

Hey everyone,

So I'm going to be in California visiting my parents for most of December (from Australia) and after realizing how close the Rubicon Trail is now I want to do it!

So I am looking for advice on where to rent a Jeep from thats suitable to do the trail in, and obviously from a company that encourages off road driving.

I have experience off road driving, I compete in Australia in my Jeep so am pretty confident doing it without an instructor so am not looking for a guided tour.

However the issue I have is I am only 20 so most places require 25 and the instructor to come along which obviously adds to the costs.

So any advice on where I can hire one?

Thanks.
