New '15 Rubicon. Swap out 730N for a 430N?

mercredi 22 juillet 2015

The 730N is dumb. I want to put in a stock 430N because it has way more voice commands to control the HDD or my iPod (such as "Play Song" and "Play Artist.") I use those commands a lot. But I do not want to go aftermarket. I realize the 430N has less Nav options. Don't care about that.

Since my 730N system has Sirius, Nav, Uconnect Bluetooth, Steering wheel voice controls etc., is the swap simply a matter of taking the radio/nav box out of the dash, unplugging it on the back, then putting in the 430N and plugging it in? Or, does it get way more complicated with additional wiring, harnesses, or whatever is needed to make the 430N work with full Nav, Uconnect and Sirius capability?

If it's just a matter of removing and unplugging the 730N, and then inserting and plugging in the 430N making all Uconnect and controls work, then I will merely find a 430N on eBay or somewhere and do it myself.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!!!

CJ7 Without Power Steering Setup

Does anybody have pictures of there setup, engine compartment, or belt routing without power steering?

I just bought my CJ7 and it did not come with power steering. It doesn't bother me at all so I figured I would go without it. Turns out that the P.O. rigged up an idler pulley to one of the power steering pump brackets (the ones that no aftermarket company makes) and it broke going down the road. I have been driving on nuts, washers, bolts, and stray junkyard brackets for the past month to give my idler a place to mount and would like to find a more permanent fix. I thought about making custom brackets to better hold the idler pulley but I figured I'd ask here first. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Evan

WJ 4 inch lift, new driveshaft?

Hey guys, just had a quick question for those who dabble with WJ's.
I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I'm planning to install a Rough Country 4 inch suspension lift on. This is the full kit (shocks, coils, lower arms, etc.) I believe it's the 698.20 kit.
I was just wondering if I need to change driveshafts, or modify my current one (stock), in order to prevent vibrations or ruining the driveshaft. I have heard that models equipped with the double cardan are good to go the way they are, but I'm unsure which one I have. If anybody has done this before and experienced any issues, please let me know.

Broken Manifold Stud Advice

So my new to me TJ has a busted exhaust manifold stud. I tried drilling it out and using an extractor, but the extractor snapped off inside the drilled out stud. Now none of my drill bits will drill through the hardened steel of the extractor.

Any advice?

You have $50k to spend on your jeep. What do you do?

A magical jeep fairy has fallen into your lap and granted you $50,000 to spend on your jeep and jeep accessories. You must state the following:

1. Your list must be prioritized, i.e. what items/upgrades/additions you deem most valuable
2. How much the part/upgrade/install will ultimately cost including installation, even if you do it yourself.
3. All the dirty things you would do to her after she is done.
