TJ Lift Kit

6” lift kit for TJ, at least I’m pretty sure it’s a 6”. I don’t know the brand of any of the parts except the shocks, which are Pro Comp. I think the rear control arms are also Pro Comp and the front lowers might be an older style Rough Country. I have all four springs, four shocks, bump stop extensions, adjustable upper and lower front control arms, adjustable rear upper and fixed lower control arms, and adjustable front swat bar links. This lift has seen plenty of use, but with a nice coat of paint and maybe a few new bushings it will work fine. I'm also willing to split it up so just make me an offer on whatever you want. $300 OBO

95 YJ engine swap

I have a 95 YJ with a lot of sentimental value, and want to repower it with an I6... Anyone have a suggestion on what to look for in a donor car?

95 YJ engine swap

Just curious, why would anyone buy a 4.0 vs a 4.7, and why would anyone buy a laredo

OK, so the 4.7 has a better engine, better trans, limited at least has all the bells and whistles, better towing capacity. Fuel economy isn't that different. So why would anyone choose a laredo or 6 cylinder with the weaker trans? Just curious. Beat me up, I really don't care, I want honest answers.

1996 ZJ shifts up and down when cold

Hi, I have 1996 Jeep ZJ 4.0 and have a problem with shifting.

Transmission (re44) is shifting up and down (1st to 2nd gear and back) when the car is cold. All the rest is shifting ok. After few miles it is gets ok. This occurs when I am easy on the throttle.

- oil level ok
- TV adjusted ok

Anyone had similar thing?

Problems with 4WD system

Hello,

I have some problems with my WK2 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 3.6, 4WD, 60k kms, which my garage seems not to be able to solve. I searched the forums, but couldn't find a similar problem.

I purchased the car new, moved to Romania and since half a year am experiencing the following:
  • Shock at acceleration. Most present in lower gears.
Not always there at cold start, but after a few minutes it is always there.
In low gearing: no shock at all. Smooth gear changes.
  • At 95 to 100 km/h and at 120-125 km/h: bonking and some shaking. It seems that the four wheel drive system seems to change power distribution to the wheels. It seems independent of the gear you are in and the rpm.
    • If it succeeds: bonking stops and car drives perfectly;
    • If not: you hear a high pitch sound (whining) as if wind is blowing through something from the 4WD system and during acceleration you will hear zzzz.…zzzz….zzzz….zzzz.
Sometimes bonking continues as well, sometimes it stops until you come again at 95 to 100 km/h and at 120-125 km/h. Especially when you drive uphill, then the bonking continues.
  • I once put the car in Neutral when this happened and let the car coast. When putting it in drive again, the gas didn’t react and the car just drove 80 km/h. After stopping, the car behaved normal again.
  • If you select a 4WD mode in the car, it doesn’t really make a difference, however in Sand/Mud there seems to be a continuous vibration.
  • There is now a strange sound in low gearing, around third gear.

What has been done so far:
  • Replacement of front cardan axle: this solved the shock at acceleration for a while.
    Car got service check and winter tires were changed to summer tires: shock reappeared.
  • All drive axles were changed: no improvement;
  • Rear cardan axle was replaced: no improvement, apart from the fact that now the rubber disk (Hartman disk) had to replaced;
  • Some rubbers were replaced: no improvement.

Does this sound familiar to any of you? And how did you solve it?

Thanks in advance,
Jasper

Alright, so I reckon its time to start a build thread. I've done a lot to this rig since I bought it, and still have more to do before its where I want it. Ill do my best to get you up to speed. Being as I didnt have a build thread up to this point, I haven't been the best at documenting the build.

It all started when I pulled the tub off my 60 cj5 for rust repair, and decided I needed another cj to hold me over until the 60 was done.

Here it is the day I picked it up. It's an 81 and I believe it to be a laredo. I found it on craigslist, went to look at it and knew it was someone else's problem.

The VIN said it was a 6cyl 3 speed, but it had a 304 sitting in the engine mounts with no trans or t-case. It did have some good qualities though. Already had front and rear bumpers, 4" lift, 35's on 15x12's, corner armor, and what I thought were good front tube fenders.
