Okay guys...Thank you in advance...I finally after a week or so have managed to purchase what seems to be a really nice 86 CJ7... 258...5 speed...and I would like to keep it that way...I see everyone list the kind of differentials...trans...transfer cases and so forth...not knowing... how do I know or how can I tell?...I would like to service my jeep...the jeep store charges 134.00 to service each of these...what is involved? is servicing just changing the fluids?...I see some wetted areas (not leaks) in the drive train from front to rear...the Jeep store says not a real concern?...I dont mind buying a manual I have seen them on line for 119. to 129. but it didnt seem to have the engine in the manuals I looked at...can anyone recommend a good manual...I guess to be honest...I have never been real mechanically inclined...just paid others to do it...mostly because I was afraid of tearing something up...and I like instant gratification...coming from not having much time to do the work myself nor having the proper tools...I really think I could do some of the servicing myself with a little guidance...not trying to neccessarily beat someone out of the job or get a cheaper price...just think it would be self gratifying and fun to have the knowledge to actually do this...and not just drive it around...I think this is enough for now...again many thanks in advance for any help...Scott :newbie:
