Rear axle internals interchangeable?

Hello my xj is a 2000 and I need to replace the backing plate on my Dana 35. I found a set of tj axles for sale locally from a 4 cylinder with the 4.10 gears and was wondering if I waned to take the internals out of the tj axle and put them in my xj housing if there would be any differences? The backing plate on my drivers side rear is bent causing the shoes to sit off center, there for not working properly. I have to take mine apart either way and was just curious if I could upgrade the gear ratios at the same time. Thanks
