Well, my son and I have slowly been dealing with the issues with this new to us 75 Cherokee NT.
Things we have done;
changed to a points dizzy
cleaning up and rebuild the carb
installing a new ignition switch, and key switch
figuring out how a q-track transfercase works (http://ift.tt/1C34Mhj)
installing a new to us Y exhaust pipe, (thanks Bill (sandman rides)
installing new drag link and tire rods
installing a 4 lift (which by the way rides real smooth, from Hell Creek Suspension)
installed a new mech fuel pump
removed, cleaned and sealed the gas tank, also new sending unit and pickup tube with new filter sock. New rubber part of the fuel lines except for the filler hose.
The jeep was still having issues with not keeping fuel in the carb and running like crap. Now the Cherokee (donkey) is at a good friends mechanic friends shop. Just got a call from him, I guess the majority of the issue is a bunch of small issues with the carb, mostly vac, so he is addressing those. After talking to him and a few others, I think the issue with the fuel filter going dry is a vapor lock thing, well, fuel tank vent line thing. Before taking the Cherokee to the mechanic, we did remove the gas tank cap and had the jeep run better but after about 30 min, the filter went dry again. Well, we think its a gas tank vent line thing. We need to find where the vent line goes. I remember seeing it ride along the frame rail with the line to the fuel pump. Then it continues forward after the fuel pump line brakes off to the fuel pump. Does anyone know or have a pic where it might go from there? I dont recall any charcoal canister on this 75, also since its not in our driveway, I cant just run right out and trace it down.
Thanks for any help and hopefully, by maybe tomorrow afternoon/evening, she will be on the road!! Biggest thing, we will have a 20yr old FSJ fan, actually we already do, but he does get discouraged. I feel like Im pushing a follow jeeper through the mud though.
