Car Wheel Dolly

lundi 17 mars 2014

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, If so, could an admin please move/remove/advise.

Been prowling around a lot of builds here on the forum.

Many of you guys use these dollies around your areas.

Problem is here in sunny South Africa, we cannot get these at all.

Been looking at getting a set of castors (16 in total) and build myself a set of 4 dollies.

Question is what rating castors should I go for, heaviest that it will need to carry is most likely my CJ5 with 350 Chevy or 2010 JK.

What are the pitfalls I should be careful off?

On assumption, can one use the formula with a safety factor, of a vehicle weighing in at 2 ton, equate to 500Kg per wheel, and divide that by four, giving a minimum rate of 125Kg per castor, so lets say for safety use 4X 160Kg rated castors per dolly?

I know there are a lot of DIY guys on here, so thanks in advance for any information.

PS you guys in the States have no idea how lucky you are regarding equipment and spares.
