Hi,
We purchased a 2004 Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD Overland in December 13, it test drove fine. A few months ago during low speed maneuvering, especially full steering lock left It Started to judder/vibration and occasional clonking sounds. It's even starting doing it around some small roundabouts.
The history we have says the diff fluid we're changed with mopar stuff with friction modifier.
The thing is, we now want to sell the Jeep but obviously need to fix this problem but the most cost effective route.
It's in 4 all time not 4 part. It's a quadra drive model with front and rear diffs.
I'm no expert but I think it's the rear diff trying to lock up or power is been sent to the front wheels in error?
What's the cheapest way forward?
Is the cheapest fluid the redline oil for the diff and how much do I need for the diffs as it comes in 946ml bottles? So looking at £80 ish to change the diff fluid.
I've read you can take out the front drive shaft to see if that helps indicating transfer case issues, in which case I need to get the 247 fluid from Jeep. How easy is it to remove the front drive shaft?
If I was keeping it i'd just replace all fluid but I need to move it on asap and cheaply.
Any advice?
