Vintage CJ body painting

samedi 7 février 2015

Currently repainting my 73 CJ.

Fourth paint job, since acquiring it back in 76.

Second time for stripping paint down to bare metal on tub inside & out , hood, fenders, grill ,tailgate & instrument panel.

On vintage CJ painting, curious what paint system is used by other folks.

There are several threads on favoite colors but very little on actual paint systems.

Currently have all body parts primed with Rustoleum "rusty metal primer" brown and "clean metal primer", white.

Favoring Dupli- Color Engine Enamel from spray cans, since it has excellent spray nozzle for fine mist, does not orange peel , has high gloss with no need of clear coat, cures fast to minimize dust pick up, cures hard.

Believe the ceramic helps with the hardness factor in additon to the high temperature rating.
