Hello
I have a '00 Laredo with the 4.7L and QuadraDrive. I had heard this loud vacuum noise from under the hood and thought it was odd. Ended up finding a slit under the line extending from the valve at the oil filler tube, presumably CCV. Didn't really think it was supposed to be there so I put tape over it as a temp fix. About a week later I found another further back on the line. I'm almost certain they aren't supposed to be there so I think it is time to replace the line.
I have read that you should only use CCV line because it can handle having an internal negative pressure due to the vacuum; but my question is, what sort of problems can result from having holes in the line? I want to check to make sure other stuff didn't get screwed up because of it. Thank you in advance for any insight.
(the images should link to the pics, not sure if they will show up here but I did wrap them in url and [img] tag)
First hole is under the silver tape on the line:

Second hole is under tape where my finger is pointing:
