About 12 years ago I bought a 95 Wrangler Rio Grande. At about 60000 miles I replaced the transmission and clutch. I put another 90000 miles on it as a daily driver then it started having minor problems and I couldnt count on it to get me to work. I kept it to use as a toy and bought a nissan for my daily driver.
I intended to drive it on weekends but never did. Other priorities got in the way and it sat for 2 years. Last summer i finally got around to using it and dropped about $2000 grand into getting it running....new tires, new break lines, all new ignition, starter, alternator... Has a little bit of rust and needs paint but it started right up and ran great for a 20 year old jeep.
I leant it to a buddy of mine who needed to borrow a car for a little while. He only took it on short 5 minute trips and didnt realize it was leaking coolant. When he finally did take it on a longer trip, there was no coolant. THe jeep over heated badly and the garage said it needs a new engine.
At this point, I am not using it, its costing me money, and I need to sell it.
My question is this....if I pay to have the engine replaced (still waiting on an estimate) do you think I will be able to get my money back. As it is I am about 2000 into it. If I sell it in this condition I will only get a couple hudred bucks for it.
Any thoughts on other options?? I am looking to buy an unlimited in the not to distant future.
