Hey guys, haven't been over here for awhile. I've been saying I want another XJ and I saw one on a lot that might do but I need advice. It's a 98 Sport 4x4 4.O. It has 261,000 mi on the clock. It starts and runs but the belt is loose. The 4x4 transfer shifter feels like it is missing a notch (?). No way for me to investigate as the lights on the indicator panel are out and the thing is almost out of gas. Brakes are good, tires are good, no rust due to undercoating. Some oil on the under carriage but no puddles or spots on the ground. The coolant looks like rusty water. Oil on dipstick is black. Transmission fluid is brownish looking.
It looks like both front shocks have fallen away but giving it the bounce test, it didn't bounce like I thought it should.
Big dent in the rear bumper, left taillight is loose. Class III hitch. Overall body is in good shape. No rips in seats. Has a 600W amp strapped to the back of the back seat, Pioneer radio that works but I don't think that amp is working. The sticker $1499 cash. I'm thinking $500-$800 or walk away. What do y'all think.
