New Owner - 4.0, maintenance?

samedi 1 août 2015

I am new to jeeps, this is the first one I've ever owned. I got a pretty sweet deal from my father-in-law so I couldn't pass it up.

They had a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo w/ the 4.0. It has ~176,000 miles on it (Could be 172,000). I wanted a bigger vehicle for a work/haul car.

They sold it to me for $200. I know he took relatively good care of it. If it needed something or started acting up, he would take it in and have it fixed. I know it has brand new tires on it as well.

I know he mentioned that he just recently had the 4 wheel drive system worked on, along with the transmission. I will have to find out exactly what he was referring too.

What maintenance items should I all perform?
What are some crucial items I should do ASAP?
Any beneficial modifications that should be performed?

I would like this vehicle to last me awhile, as its roomy, rides nice and is comfortable.

I have change the serpentine belt, changed the oil to Rotella T5 10w-30, recharged the A/C and checked for leaks (as it had no charge in it when I received it) and replaced the hood struts.

Being new I don't know all items to check/look for.

A/C system appeared fine, I was unable to find any evident leaks, unless its somewhere I can't see?

Thanks for the help!
