Check gauges?

Here's one. Driving in that wicked rain storm we had and all of a sudden get the tone/beep to let me know something is wrong and look to see my check gauges light come on and my oil pressure gauge drops down to zero. It lasts about 5 seconds and then the light goes out and the oil pressure goes back to normal. Only did it one time.



The book states to check the voltmeter, engine oil pressure or engine coolant temp gauge because it is reading to high or low. In my case the oil. Is their a sensor that could go bad giving that faulty reading?
