Mopar Side Steps / clips

I just bought a set of factory Mopar Style Steps. (Molded, fits the pre-drilled factory holes.) But, I can not tell where the clips are supposed to go. The picture in the instructions shows they go over the pre-drilled holes in the body, sliding over the holes from a square open space beside the hole. But, my 2014 Wrangler Unlimited does not have those square openings.... Has anyone installed these side steps on an Unlimited, and how did you use the clips? Thanks.
