1979 CJ5 carb rebuild/emission strip issues

jeudi 15 janvier 2015

I should first admit that I did too much all at once and got myself into this mess. Here is what I have done. . .

1) Rebuilt the Carter BBD (was sure that float and accelerator pump were properly adjusted to spec)

2) Installed the "team rush" upgrade as noted on this forum. (Used Accel wires and gapped plugs to .045)

3) Removed all smog components and associated brackets. Also bypassed both CTO valves. (plugged exhaust manifold with square headed pipe threaded plugs) -Vacuum advance now runs to manifold vacuum and EGR to Carb.

4) Set timing to 8 degrees

The only thing I have not been able to adjust is the mixture screws on the Carter BBD. (No tach or dwell)

So my problem is that I have a spudder and hesitation during acceleration.

After looking at this thread:-> http://ift.tt/1AlWRcZ <-, I think that I have the spudder solved. My question is, where should I tap the carb for the EGR? And would the mixture screw adjustment create a bad hesitation?
