I decided to go with a smaller battery charger a while back, reading the NOCO genius press they seemed like a good one to go with. And the online reviews I found were favorable.
But I'm on #3 so far and they're batting 1000 on pretty boxes full of junk. I sent them a letter, still waiting on a response. Unless things change dramatically I'm officially in the "Don't buy" category if you're in the market for a new charger. If they do respond I'll update.
"I don't normally write to a company but I feel the need to pass on my deep dissatisfaction with your product to you before I start posting my results in other locations.
I'm currently on my third consecutive non working G3500. All three have come from Menards here in Cheyenne Wy.
I bought the first looking to replace my aging full size battery charger with something smaller and easier to store in my 5th wheel. However upon putting it on the 5th wheels discharged battery all I received were all of the charge % lights flashing in unison. Over the next few days I tried repeatedly on that battery at different temperatures before trying it on my 2 trucks, then my riding lawn mower and finally on a battery in my daily driver car that was fully charged. The results were the same every time. I left the charger flashing overnight hoping that it was actually working and the leds weren't but there was no charge the next day. Using my old charger resulted in a charged battery as usual.
I returned that charger and got a replacement that was dead out of the box. I returned it and picked up the 3rd. If I put it on an almost fully charged battery it will top it off. Anything else and I am once again rewarded with flashing LEDs. Tonight I decided to give it a final change and try it on my car which has been garaged for the last month due to bad weather. The battery on it is going flat but it is still carrying enough charge to turn the motor over slowly. Once again, flashing LEDs and no charge so I am officially done with it.
Unfortunately the box to this charger was damaged so I believe I am stuck with a $70 paperweight that occasionally does the job of a $5 battery maintainer from harbor freight, but only if the battery isn't too flat and then the HF maintainer is the better option.
I have been though the posted FAQ several times, repeatedly tried every 12v setting on the unit and have intentionally reversed the polarity and not changed the results. Every vehicle battery I have installed is less than 2 years old and I purchased a new battery for my 5th wheel shortly after the first failed 3500. The odds of all of these batteries being functional but otherwise in poor/sulfated condition is essentially 0.
The current unit reads 4001276 on the bottom, I don't know the serial numbers on the previous 2 units. Hopefully if you had a bad batch go out the serial number will help you ID the batch.
Thank you for your time."
