Hello, First time post here hoping for some advice. I just inherited a 2001 XJ pretty good shape and went to the jeep dealer for an alignment today. I figured the dealer would be better for this as they have done plenty o jeeps my mistake:( 2hrs later the tech brought it out and told me the toe was off and he got that fixed. My tires were getting choppy and it had pulled to the right a bit. He also told me the caster was off by about a deg. on the drivers side and that he could shim it but it would be another trip and expense and also that the camber was within spec. I guess I thought wrong that paying the premium at the dealer would include such work but nope. Anyhow I paid and left right as they were closing of course and driving home I noticed the steering wheel was misaligned to the left a bit grrrrr. Then to make matters worse I later looked at the very basic alignment printout to find it was not the caster that was out but the camber on the drivers side. Drivers was at -1.1 passenger at -0.1 this made me wonder if the guy even tried to move the ball joints while it was on the machine? I have put a bar on them and they dont seem to move but 1deg might be pretty hard to see. Furthermore when I looked under the car he had set the joint at the pitman arm so it was at its max angle in the seat not very professional IMHO. Sorry for the long post wanted to get all the info in here.
So my questions are this:
Should I just go with a offset ball joint?
If so upper or lower I have seen both avail?
Should I be pissed at the dealer and demand it be redone?
Forget about it cause 1deg. is to small to bother worrying about?
Caster and toe are almost dead on but the FSM says -0.25 for camber todays numbers came in -1.1left -0.1right.
Thanks for any advice!
