My ECM died. I sent it off to be repaired, and the company claims it is beyond repair. :crying:
The original bad ECM is part number 56027384, 4.0L 6 cylinder, manual transmission, federal emissions.
I searched for a replacement (to no avail, of course) so I ordered a used ECM part number 56005715 from a 1991-1992 Cherokee XJ, 4.0L 6 cylinder, automatic transmission, California emissions off of Ebay.
The Wrangler tries to crank, and sometimes will run for a few seconds, then dies.
To add to the mix, I had a bad fuel pump gasket, and I changed the complete fuel pump/sending unit assembly with a new unit and gasket. Fuel pressure at the rail is 40 psi. So, pretty sure I'm good there.
Could I have a bad used ECM? Is this Cherokee Auto trans., Cali emissions ECM just not compatible with my 1992 Wrangler?
Can anyone offer a list of known compatible replacements for the 56027384?
I really would like to get rid of my driveway sculpture.
Thanks!
