I have zero luck with oil pressure

lundi 10 août 2015

Both my xj and tj have "OPD" which is what I call oil pressure disease. The xj's oil pressure would drop to zero randomly or read less than 10 and the "check engine" pops up. I replaced the factory oil pressure sending unit from one directly from mopar and it was ok until a couple months ago when it started doing it again. I gave up on it since we are parting it out soon cuz of all the issues.

Yesterday, out of the blue, the 99 2.5L TJ started doing the same thing but only after I pushed it for an hour going 65 mph. I never exceed 55 in that jeep but I was cold as shi$ without my top and doors (it was 10pm on I79) so I flew home as fast as I could and the oil pressure dropped to zero at the first red light I came to before arriving home. Why would the pressure drop to zero right after doing 65 for the first time ever? The jeep ran fine and nothing seemed out of ordinary except for the idle being a little rougher (that came right after I did a full tune-up) so I don't know if that's related.

I haven't picked up an oil pressure tester yet but going to soon.

Any ideas why oil pressure would drop suddenly (and both jeeps?!)?
