So I'm not new to jeeps, I have had a few over the years but a month or so ago the bug bit me again so I started looking for another Jeep. I have been looking at small car lots, classifieds, auctions (locally we have 2 every week), online and even asking everyone I know if they knew of any sitting around. It took a while but I found the one that was in good enough shape a priced right.
1996 XJ 4.0 auto, engine and transmission feel and sound strong, body has some rust but not bad for almost 20 years and living in the salt belt (Indiana).
My goal is to let my boys help with everything and build her into a great daily driver that my wife and I will give our oldest when he turns 16. Then we get to start another one from our other son. Through this they will learn how to do basic auto maintenance that should help them later in life, or maybe they will decide to go be a doctor so they never have to do it anymore. Win-Win
Our oldest son wants it lifted so we are going to do a small lift so we can get 31" tires. He wants me to paint it flat black for him but I have never done anything that large so I'm going to have to think about that one. Tint the windows and replaced the bumpers with some nice steel ones maybe with a wench.
Here she is

Our plan for the next few weeks is to start cleaning her up and see what we have to work with, I know I will have to replace the passenger floor board panel and I want to look at the drivers side it has been patched so want to check their work. We will be doing some simple basic stuff like plugs, wires, cap, and fuel filter. Check the breaks front and rear, and replace any worn steering parts. That should give us a great start and get her ready for the winter.
So excited about getting started.
