TJ Hard Top Paint Job

jeudi 27 août 2015

So this is my first Jeep. A 99 Wrangler. The hard top was faded and I wanted to paint it black. I will be doing the fenders soon and will update the thread.

I took off the back window and the hinges as they needed paint as well.
Then sanded the entire top with 220.

I used Interlux marine topside paint. Its designed for fiberglass boats. Its a bit expensive at $40 a quart but I think it worked well. I only needed 2 coats with a sanding using 320 in between coats. It took about half of the quart.

I used a 4" foam roller and foam brushes to chase after using the roller.

Here are some before, during and after pictures.
